Sorry, I guess this thread was posted in the wrong area. It has apparently been moved to the "reveiws seo" area -- whereever that it?

superbitz, thanks for sharing that about link building. hang tight, looks like you've done nothing wrong and hopefully this is a glitch.

Sent you a PM. What I mean is the site got dropped from the index for duplicate content via a proxy hijack, most likely. Sent you the url of the hijack. Hope that helps getting to the root of the problem.

My thanks to diostebendiga....I am correcting the issues now. They certainly could be the problem. I won't rush a reconsideration request though. I will wait another week to see if anything else arises.

Hi Rasputin, try the following search in Google to search for a possible proxy hijack: inurl:yoursite.com proxy

That's how I found the redirect that diostebendiga pointed out to me initially.

I really really hope this just temporary, my 10 year old site that was ranking decent for 9 years and well this year, disappeared yesterday :(

This has been a big shock to me and that is an understatement. I had recently been upgraded to PR4 in october and was very happy. It is my main income source and if this ever gets fixed, I will make sure I have my eggs in more than 1 basket.

A change in google should not have such a big affect on a persons life, their 1 little change messes my whole life up.

And what a perfect timing, just before Xmas and right before the busiest week of the year :(

I think something is definitely wrong with Google. One of mine (pure WH site) disappeared as well, and that too yesterday. Any more people experiencing the same? (I hope G fixes the issue ASAP.)

Ok I see signs of HOPE today. Here is what I see for the following G commands

    "site:www.mysite.com" - Nothing shows
    "site:mysite.com" - Nothing Shows
www.mysite.com - My sites main page shows first result (meaning it is not banned) :) Correct !

As far as indexed pages goes, I dont see anything for the (Site:mysite.com) command, but if I type "http://www.mysite.com" and then click on "Repeat the search with the omitted results included" I see about 2,300 pages from my site itself.

The SERPs are mostly lost. For my main terms I was on 1 and 2nd pages, now its 5 to 7 pages. And for my product pages...well they dont exsist anymore :(

But atleast I am not banned. I think

For the "link:www.mysite.com" command my site is showing 280 again like before.

BUT in my webmasters tools account I still see the following "Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Dec 10, 2007" AND "No pages from your site are currently included in Google's index. Indexing can take time. You may find it helpful to review our information for webmasters and webmaster guidelines." !!!!

When The site had disappered, I panicked and submited a resubmission request from my Webmaster Account, and since you have to admit you did wrong, I had to write a NOTE in my Message saying that I dont think I did anything wrong but this is the only way to contact you (Big G). I hope that doesnt hurt me in any way.

We what do you guys make out of this whole thing !! any ideas

Has anyone else noticed a drop in the number of search results being found during doing a search?
I've seen it happen before for a few hours, but for the keywords i'm targeting one used to get a few million results but now only gets a few hundred thousand. Is this normal?

Hi CHarlee22 - I am still in the same boat. None of the searches show any of my 3 sites or any of their pages in Google. Yet all three sites are like in the Top 5 of Yahoo, MSN and ASK. It's completely ridiculous.

My site is fully indexed again now and the webmaster account is updated as well. It says pages from your site are included in Gs index and also, pages from my sitemap are included in the index.

But I am not relaxed completely yet. They play too mcuh and this could be temporary.

I see all my pages indexed using the site: command. SERPs are not what they were, I am gone from the first page results....now around 5 to 7th page.

    keeping my fingers crossed.
