I have example.co.uk and example.net Google automatically sets country target for .co.uk domain to UK. So we registered new domain (.net), and set it as international counter part. Established hreflang settings on sitemap, but there was no problem. We don't want to allow people outside of UK to enter our co.uk website, and we also don't want our UK located visitors to see .net domain. We redirected domains accordingly. (if someone enters from outside of UK to .co.uk, s/he is redirected to .net. And if user located in UK, redirected to .co.uk website). In theory this should work, but we lose most of the traffic and just removed redirections from .co.uk domain, and traffic is back. So now .co.uk domain is accessible out of UK. But actually we don't want this. Is there anybody who has experience on redirecting country domains with success?
