I didn't know where to go to warn people, maybe ppl already know. But this forum seemed like the closest place to ask about Google stuff. I've been using F-Secure Antivirus for a long time now until recently (4 weeks) when they didn't allow me to update my virus database. So I changed to the free although unfinished Opensource project WinClam. In doing so I found out about this virus that my F-Secure have missed: Trojan.Clicker.Small-100 Has anybody else stumbled on the same virus before. And know where it originates from. My suspected programs are: Serv-U Google Talk Google Video Player The virus could have originated from the Serv-U installation but it's an old program. And I find it curious that Google comes up twice, do you think that Google has infected servers or something along that way? Just wanted to doublecheck with other surfers around the world about this matter.
If could be they just got infected, viruses go around infecting other executable programs. Also, virus scanners look for "signatures," for instance, Trojan.Click.Small-100 may have code to open a certain file, or open a certain port, and f-secure just looks for that bit of code. It's not too off the wall to see false positives.
It may have been a "false positive". By the way, you can download F-secure updates manually from their ftp: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/updates/ 1. Download fsupdate.exe, it's updated once or twice each day. 2. Run it. 3. Antivirus is updated I do this once every 2-3 days.
tnx for the updates instructions. I've read about it before, tried it but never quite understood F-secures own instructions
