hey guys! Has anybody here built a custom Admin/Dashboard in WordPress? In the past I've been using a plugin called White Label CMS, but want to go a bit step further in making the Dashboard look completely custom. I'm going to hire a UI/UX person to create the mock-up and design, but would like to know how the actual dashboard can be re-designed? Is it done through the WordPress API? For anybody who as redesigned their Dashboard, could you show a screenshot of what your design looks like?
I didn't hear it, yet. Why do you want to change admin panel design? May you tell me? Everybody add custom post type and taxonomies for few extra functionality.
I want to build the admin section so that it looks and behaves 100% custom, and looks like an app. So that it doesn't resemble Wordpress at all. I've seen nice looking stuff on Behance.net. But now would like to build it.
oh. But I think you don't find suitable developer available for this task because it's uncommon, yet. So you can get custom cms using php, mysql, ajax or laravel.
No, from what I understand it can be done through the API. http://v2.wp-api.org/ I wanted to see if anybody here has experience with building this.
I have not done it; but there was this recent post on WPMU on themes for the Admin panel: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/admin-themes/
Excellent link @Agent000! This links to some good plugin alternatives, although it's like adding a coat of paint to the Admin section. Towards the bottom of that article, however, there is a section that goes into a bit more detail about complete customization of the Admin section: Those links brought be over to here as well, which has some good info about customizing an Admin section: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/future-of-wordpress-2016/ I am only vaguely familiar with this because Calypso was mentioned at WordCamp Europe 2016 and I was there. I am surprised more people are not developing their own custom Admin dashboard to completely rebrand it so that it looks unlike the default WordPress design and layout.
