I'm just wondering. There are some rumors arround saying that American users will get them first. However, my friend from Toronto has booked one for me - and still nothing. So, how about You dear DPers? Have G.A. begun re-opening signups or it's just another pure marketing story... ;-)
They have reopened it, but it's still *really* buggy, so why they are happy offering the service to new users is beyond me...
It only shows top 5 search phrases and when I compare it to web trends I'm not seeing the same traffic. Wacky
I'm not seeing a lot of bugs, but the results are waaaaay different from AWStats. I did a traffic comparison here: Analytics VS AWstats But bottom line is, Analytics reported about 1/4 the traffic of AWStats.
I think AWStats report bots as hits whereas Analytics exclude them from their stats. That might explain the difference in reporting, although a 75% difference is huge. Have you got the Analytics code on all your pages?
I do. Also, AWstats claims that robot views are separated. These two notes are from my AWstats reports: I'm not saying AWStats is right and G. Analytics is wrong... matter of fact, I think the opposite would be closer to the truth. However, G. Analytics has been having timeouts when loading the .js file... there's a lag, and then I suspect it times out, leading to no tracking for that page/view.
I have 9 sites being tracked and it's showing pretty well balanced traffic results. everything is pretty on target and I'm happy with it. still trying to figure out a couple of the goal results, but I'm happy with the service so far. ->tstaut: I've never had a timeout and it seems to be tracking just fine for every hit. In fact my sites get very good response times: 3 216.39.66.145 (216.39.66.145) 0.519 ms 0.522 ms 0.561 ms 4 216.39.64.17 (216.39.64.17) 0.538 ms 0.405 ms 0.692 ms 5 bcs1-so-3-3-0.Dallas.savvis.net (208.172.131.81) 1.789 ms 1.805 ms 1.771 ms 6 dcr1-so-7-3-0.Atlanta.savvis.net (204.70.192.81) 22.780 ms 21.754 ms 21.715 ms MPLS Label=188225 CoS=5 TTL=1 S=0 7 bcs1-so-2-0-0.Washington.savvis.net (204.70.192.54) 39.658 ms 35.350 ms 35.243 ms 8 cpr2-pos-6-2.VirginiaEquinix.savvis.net (208.173.10.201) 44.401 ms 36.039 ms 36.652 ms 9 208.173.10.246 (208.173.10.246) 40.710 ms 44.927 ms 40.623 ms 10 216.239.49.248 (216.239.49.248) 36.707 ms 36.729 ms 216.239.47.120 (216.239.47.120) 37.004 ms 11 216.239.49.214 (216.239.49.214) 38.424 ms 39.869 ms 39.511 ms 12 64.233.161.97 (64.233.161.97) 37.218 ms 39.989 ms 39.941 ms
i am still not sure where the catch is. google wants us to use it to analyze users' behaviour on our sites. the general rule of thumb is: the longer the user stays, the better.so if my user clicks on an ad after 40 seconds of reading my text, google may use that info to rank my page in results. lack of info on users' behaviour within sites is, actually, their largest problem these days i think. i would prefer not to give them all info about my underwear. or maybe there is another catch: no analytics, no good rankings. give us info for free traffic, you tiny website builder! sorry for spreading paranoia, but these are my 2 cents on analytics service.
They do not this data for any reason other than supporing the clients who use analytics. I got a bit of a toungue lashing from Google after I posted an article (blogs.zdnet.com/Google/?p=39) about the possibility of them already using Analytics data on my blog. I agree that I was offside by posting the article before talking to them about it, but in reality they were -- in a way -- using this data. They mentioned that they will include an exception so that this behaviour doent happen in the future. It sounds like they are pretty firm on the policy that they are not using this data.
idolw, you shouldn't have to worry about that if you have a content rich site that actually helps the visitor.
This makes sense. I checked my GA and got a different story from my account in click bank. I am faily new at tracking this stuff and thought I was reading it wrong.
