Domains transfers are not free. You have to pay the transfer fee/renewal fee at the new registrar. Once the transfer has been completed, one more year is added in the current expiration date of the domain in question.

May be risky to transfer for "free" using any third party tools.

The thing is the registrar gets charged by ICANN for you transferring the domain. They get charged a regular reg fee. So it's very unlikely anyone would offer that for free. On the other hand, you are not really loosing any money as you are gaining a year of domain registration. Unless they are specifically charging you additional amount for the transfer process, in which case there are plenty of regs that don't do that.

I have never heard of free Domain transfers..what most registrars do is that they say one year renewal free with transfer which is just a marketing gimmick..Its a rule by ICANN that transfer comes with renewal..

It will be very difficult for you to find a domain registrar that allows free transfers.namecheap has periodic offers where you can transfer your domain for $6.99.that's the cheapest i have found.
