Shes just over 3 months old and I don't know how to break her. She'll squat down in the hallway and my closet mostly. I need some suggestions on house breaking her. Suggestions that don't include rubbing her nose in the pee or doo doo. Zoey The pink blankets arent mine I swear.
Just buy those dog poo thingy, cant remember whats the name for it. I think you can ask at your pet shop. They should be able to teach you how to train your puppy, if not you can try "monkey see monkey do" but normally the dog once they see that thingy, they normally would go there to do their biz.
You probably need to yell at the dog when shes doing it. And take him out to the place you want him to do it.
I'm thinking that if I left her outside for a while, she'll realize it's alot more awesome to go potty out there and will only go out there once she's used to it. But the problem with that is, her mom will run around off into the woods and Zoey will follow her...and fall behind and get lost. Also I don't want her in the road, although we have alot of land to run on. we have a pit bull on a chain that I don't want her near. She loves it outside but I don't want her out there for long
The best way is to get a potty for her, never let a small puppy roam near the roads, it is far too dangerous, saw too many cats and dogs killed this way. Zoey looks too cute to be put in harms way.
Well to stop your dog soiling inside there are a few things you can do. After you have given your her her food, take her outside to go to the toilet. I used this technique and very quickly my dog learnt that after each meal he had to go outside. You also say she will just squat in the hallway and closet? Well when we had our puppy we kept him in the kitchen all the time, the kitchen had a door which led out to the garden, this way we could leave the door open and he could wonder in and out. You will also have to use some force, you can't teach a dog to do something without being forceful. If she does soil inside then take them back to where they did it and tell her she is a bad girl, in a very deep and angry voice. Then put her outside, she will learn what she has done wrong. But when telling her off you have to take her back to where she soiled, or else she wont know why she has been a bad girl! Thanks Jon
shout at it, and if you see it doing that then pick it up and put it outside. It'll soon get the point.
I asked a friend of mine, he taught me a trick but seemed a bit cruel, when the puppy shit anywhere, bring it to that place, press his nose against the mess. My friend told me that his dog never did it again. Sounds cruel, but he told me that it worked very well.
I know about rubbing their nose in it.. But that's really gross and I can't cuddle her or get sugars from her then. And I also have to clean her face off. What about a fence to put her in?? I can put her in there for a few days or as long as it takes for her to get used to going outside ^_^
Hi, Zoey is gorgeous. I got a puppy 6 months ago, and the pooing and peeing drove me insane. I have had puppies before but I had forgotten how much patience you need with them. When we first got Arnie, we brought him home and he pooed on the bed like 5 seconds after coming into my bedroom, that was the start of it. DO NOT rub your dogs nose in it, that will not teach her to stop soiling in your house, that only shows her that you think it's bad when she goes to the toilet, period. Instead after she's been asleep, or eaten take her outside to the place you want her to goto the toilet. Also, you can firmly say NO, or BAD GIRL if she does soil in your house (but only if you catch her doing it, there's no point shouting at her a few minutes later as she won't know what she's done wrong) and immediately take her outside to the spot where you want her to do her business, she'll soon learn. Say good girl and reward her by giving her treats (doggy biscuits) after she's pooed/peed outside, that gives her encouragement that doing it outside is a good thing. It takes some time, but if you persevere it will pay off, soon she will start to see your home as her home and won't want to poo there. We live in an apartment and we managed to get Arnie to stop pooing/peeing inside, and he would do it on the balcony. Then after a few weeks, he started sunbathing there and never pooed or peed there again as he saw it as his home. Now I could (Not that I ever would!) leave him alone all day, and he would still never do his business inside, he knows he has to do it outside. I think Arnie was 4 months when he stopped soiling inside, and that's around the general age when most puppies tend to stop so you shouldn't have too long to go.. Good luck and enjoy Zoey's puppy months because they grow up sooo quick.
