Any tips to promote a new site?

How should I start promoting a new free article submission site?
If possible using free methods alone, till I start generating some revenue from it...

What type of articles?

 

Different types. Something like you would see on goarticles etc. (Free reprintable. )

Putting a link in your signature would be a good start. Searching the forum for tips would be a better start

 

I will add a link in my signature once I open the site for webmasters.
Meanwhile, what would you do to attract article writers, and publishers?

You can start a few threads at a number of forums you are participating at. Start a thread where you'll invite people to come and submit their articles to your site. Keep doing it on a regular basis and people will keep coming and submitting articles to your articles site.

Also, get listed in some of the free article submission sites lists available over the internet. It should bring you some regular traffic.

Submit to Digg, Reddit, Netscape etc. If your idea is good, it will go viral with minimum effort. Also submit a press release.

Try posting on craigslist, you will get spidered by SE bots quickly

 

try to submit to related directories and exchage links with other related sites

if you got good number of articles , publish all of them on your site , you may get some good traffic from search engines .

 

I got about 22,000 articles on the site and the site is getting indexed by search engines. Yahoo is also sending traffic and has maximum pages indexed...
Some of the articles are very new.

I would suggest you start a MySpace page and hunt through the groups looking for relevance.

Then, join some of those groups and invite them to come see what you have available.

 

submit to directories. you can get cheap directory submission services right here on dp. Matter of fact I can submit your site to 200 directories for $30. pm me if interested
