content, content, content. also, it doesn't hurt that your domain name or part of it is a frequent search term.

Ya man, you have to make sure you have done good ONSITE SEO, that means, setting up meta tags, keywords, title etc. Then you have to do some more OFFSITE seo. You can do socialbookmarkings as well as DOFOLLOW blog comments with anchored text, That will bring you more traffic.... :)

first you should make ready your site with on page... meta keywords, description and title then you have to go ahead with Google webmaster's guideline which contains how they are moving ahead with a brand new site, once you get this done then you can think about basic link building.

    * set up google webmaster central & google analytics account

    * submit sitemap through webmaster central console.

    * fine tune your keyword selection ( NOT the meta keywords ) to target

    * fine tune your on page ( titles, headers & internal link architecture )

    * create lot of in-demand, unique, commentworthy content

    * make it easy for people to share the content

    * participate in social media in gainful way to build relationships/links/referral traffic and to achieve distribution.

*rinse, repeat - have a relentless customer focus

    Best luck!

Start from doing keyword analysis and selecting the right keywords for your site then proceed with on-page optimization.

Why start with keyword analysis? Because it's best to properly insert those keywords in your title, meta description, meta keywords, headers, alt tags, bold or emphasized and mentioned in your web content.

Then submit a sitemap and start your off-page optimization by building or getting backlinks through site submissions and promotions.

You can have more information if you visit different blogs suggesting ways of doing SEO. Google it! :)

WTF is it with you people and the meta keywords tag?? I had to double check the dates on the posts to make sure I was commenting in a thread from 1998.

The fact that half the posts here told you to waste your time with meta keywords shows this is the last place you should be asking for SEO advice.

Meta tags and content; Try and post at least two articles/ general disscussion posts per day. This will ensure that your website has up to date information, which is what search engines look for. Don't forget to choose good keywords for your site. A keyword analyzer tool is useful for finding good keywords. You can then use them within your content/meta tags.

I don't use meta keywork on my blog... neither tag... at least in the posts. It sounds not very stylish when you see tag at the end of the post I think. I will have to seriously reconsider using Meta Keyword....
