    Hi everyone,

I have been running my website http://www.bagpiperperth.com.au/ for about a month now and still stuck @ PR 0.
In google, it calculates 'around 68' backlinks, which must be from my directory submissions and social bookmarking.

Is it possible for me to get a higher PR?
What else can I do to increase the number of relevant links?

Competition is little in this niche, but in order to get the number one spot for my desired keywords, I believe I will need a PR 3 or above.

    What do you guys reckon?

    Cheers

If your only bookmarks are seemingly from social bookmarking, and from directories, then you simply must get the word out in other places. Seek out music forums and blogs, and make accounts, leave links, get others talking about it.

Myspace was born around the music scene, get an account there, make friends, and watch your site grow...just be mindful of the other communities that you are on. They should come first, and your link second. If you keep that in check, and actually give those sites content, then you'll find that people like you. They will check your links, they will click into your sigs, they might even spread the word on their own. However, if you get into other communities, and just start pushing links you'll be labeled a spammer and will likely be banned or ignored.

Your site itself must also be worth reading. If people do check your links, and your site is lacking, then they will hit the back button never to return.

So in short, it begins at www.bagpiperperth.com.au and ends with the end user. In the middle you have to build relevant links with relevant keywords...

like change the URL in your sig to have your main keywords
    Steven Barnett
    or
    bagpiper Perth
    are both better then just:
    www.bagpiperperth.com.au

Find sites that are relevant to your cause... maybe sites where you've played functions at. Local directories. Heck, even put ads out in the local papers, those ads will likely not help that much on the web, but getting the word out locally should certainly help. Donating your services to local events can get you free links on their web pages...which helps both locally and on the web.

Your page says that you can bagpipe AC/DC, lol... I'd love to hear it! Heh, I bet you can find a few online radio stations to plug your music with a link, even if they are mocking you (like a rock radio station)...people love to laugh (no offense).

Also, finish your site! Get some music uploaded to your music page. A complete page is a bonus all the way around... if you are still building it, people will think you are not done and will look for someone that is.

You don't need high PR in order for your site to improved in SERP for your targeted keywords. Quality links from related sites is more important.

Just remember, if you are trying rock stations, then keep in mind that a sense of humor is NEEDED. Chances are if they accept to play your piece, it may be to make you a laughing stock... though, heh, it is still advertising!

Youtube videos may also work. Add some humor too it, and plaster your link at the end. You may find that it could go viral...but again, keep smiling, and laugh with them.

I am unsure if there are stations out there that would play it on a more serious note, as that is certainly not my type of music. ;)

    Best of luck either way!

If you happen to play some traditional tunes of a more magickal nature, then send me a PM... I may be able to get a thread link or two on my occult forum and blog.
