Any technical differences in domain extensions?

I'm registering a domain name and couple of extensions are available.

Other than extensions like ".com", ".net" are easily remembered, are there are any technical differences? I mean do search engines prioritize any extensions over others?

Domain extensions indicates locations of your business.

    .com is basically for worldwide
    .in for India
    .us for America

In terms of SEO, Google rank .com and .org really well.

In fact, there have been increasing instances where .org ranks better than .com (if everything else is equal). Marcus Campbell would concurs with this observation too.

    Other advantage of .org are:
1.) they more likely to be available for registration and
2.) they look more "non-profit" from the visitor's point of view.
