Some updates with my Tata Indicom Broadband connection issue..

One person called me from Tata Indicom and enquired why I am not renewing my connection. I informed him that I wanted credit for the earlier downtime (about 30 days). He replied me and told that he can give only 7 days

These people kept on deducting for each day in downtime period and finally telling he can give credit for 7 days..

I informed him that I am in the verge of taking it to the consumer forum.

His reply : "You can take it to the court.. There is nothing going to happen"

I thought for a while whether to really proceed to the consumer forum. I have enough proof (the mails I have written to them with read receipts, their replies, call details from my mobile service provider , duration of calls etc)

But I want to fight with them in SEO's way..

My blog post Tata Indicom Broadband is ranking at 35th position now.. I want to be visible to the public ahead of their site..

Do support me in this cause..

Do that. Consumer forum rulings are usually in favor of consumers. If you were in Baroda I would have gladly helped you...I got previous experience with consumer forum :D.

I got 92 kbps ..at least that's what my ISP (You Tele) tells me - but the actual speed is pretty bad.

It was much better a year back when I had 32 kbps and an old PIII pc.

I don't really trust any of the ISPs. All their speed claims are bull****.

Is their any way to accurately measure what speed the connection is?

Try if you find an organization that helps people in Consumer Forum related matters.

In Gujarat there is an organization called "Jagrut Nagrik" which helps people for a nominal fee of Rs 100-200. They do everything from sending a notice to the concerned party to guiding the consumer fighting the case. As there are no lawyers in the consumer forums, the actual case is fought by the consumer himself - but the procedures are much simpler than the normal courts.

Most companies don't like matters being taken to consumer forum - it brings bad publicity for the company and consumers usually win in consumer forums. If you send a notice to the company they would usually opt for an out-of-court settlement.

It means nothing...he has no sense of what it means to be in a legal tangle.

When you send a legal notice, it goes to the legal dept or company secretary or whoever is charge of the city operations. These guys have to answer the company bosses and thus take things more seriously.

I had a dispute with ICICI bank and filed a complaint with the consumer forum. The local branch never really bothered about my problem. After I filed the complaint, the matter was resolved within two days. I had two or three calls from their head office asking me not to go ahead with the case and that the problem will be solved as soon as possible.

However the amount involved here is very small, so you must also keep that in mind. If you find a organization that helps consumers, then your problem will be solved easily. If you go directly to the consumer forum, you will end up wasting a lot of time.

send them a written notice by regd. post with a copy to the DOT and the IT minister, consumer forum, local DC and to their head office (with a copy to all their regional managers all over India) - you would get a call from them within 48 hours with all the credit to your account added. :)

There is one more thing you can try.

Write to CNBC. They may or may not take up your issue, but in case, they do your problem will be resolved 100%.

They make a lot of noise :D.

    You can use this form.

Read about some of their successes.
