Any suggestions to improve the look of my blog?

I recently revamped my blog, but I'm not sure if I like the results. Is it just me, or does the text seem too light?

I'm also trying to figure out how to better organize the links. Is there a way to seperate them into smaller categories?

    Thanks!

    Nice blog, great content.

I bumped into this plugin which may help, I've got to take some time and figure out how to use it to organize links.

Meanwhile I split my links up in the code and put them whereever I want, usually splitting pages between top menu bar and footer.

Here is an example of one way I organized things.

The text is not too light. It looks good. Black is too dark and of too high contrast against white backgrounds. Your text is easier on the eyes.

The site banner is too big and looks awful. The selected text for the URL looks like those free fun fonts that every beginner puts into their powerpoint presentations. The graphical element to it is also unimaginative. Try simplifying things to fit in with the rest of your site. Work on a basic logo or have some sort of imagry related to writing.

I'm looking at your site in the firefox browser, and the "SUBMIT YOUR WRITING NOW!" link drops off the mian navigation onto the next line. Take a look and re-work your code a little. Maybe even slightly reduce the height of your navigation text.

Whilst you have many links down the sides of your site, don't worry. This sort of thing is accepted by blog/site users now and doesn't look too bad. However, I would try to do more in order to seperate them visually from the main content in the midde. At the moment everything looks like one big block of text and links. Try to break it up with a little "whitespace".

Apart from that your blog looks nice. The only other things Id say is that your content item headers don;t quite stand out enough. I had this problem with my site too, but got around it with spacing and a background colour to the header "block". Also, I'd recommend a little more imagry. Nothing too over-the-top. Just something subtle with each post every now and then to add to the overall presentation.

I hope you didnt find all that too negative. I hope you find my comment useful and make a great, successful website/blog :)

Thanks for the input...I agree, the header does look a bit big. I use Firefox as well, but I'm not having the problem you described.

Now I just have to figure out how to do the things you talked about! :)

    A couple questions-

How do I add more white space?
And what are content item headers? Do you mean the post title?

I would put a little bit of color. At least in the titles on the sidebar.

Great. Does anyone have a simple tutorial for how to do this stuff? Where do I need to go in the theme to change colors, spacing, etc?
