Hi folks, here is my story and what brought me here. I built a website about 8 years ago. It is now PR5 and Alexa around 80,000. On the $ side, I guess it is doing ok for me. At least I could quit my $120K job several years ago. I did not do much on SEO on this site. Frankly speaking, I do not have much knowledge about SEO. When the site was launched 8 years ago, I even spent $700 to have it listed on Yahoo directory. I even did PPC on Yahoo Overture for a couple of months. No doubt, I lost some $ at the beginning and almost gave up. As time passed by, I gradually saw more $. The site uses Adsense, banner ads etc to monetize. Several years ago, I was able to quit my software engineer job. But shame on me, I have almost done nothing to improve the site in the past 8 years. It still makes quite decent $ now and still grows a little every year. After being lazy for years, I think it is time to improve the site and improve the user experience. In the meantime, I got quite some brand new ideas and is working on building a few more new sites. Now I need promote my sites. I roughly know what needs to be done for SEO since I read a lot of articles and forum posts recently. But I desparately need an SEO tool, or an online membership service to walk me step by step to SEO a site, for example, what need to be done for on-site SEO, what are those directories, what article sites to submit, submission tracking, how to do social network SEO, etc. I saw some sites may provide this kind of service, for example, seobook, but it is too expensive. I also read some articles about the SEO software IBusinessPromoter(ibusinesspromoter.com). It costs $400 to buy. Anyone uses this software? Do you have any other suggestions, lower cost? Even for SEO book, do you think if it is worth to pay server hundred bucks a month? Any suggestions are appreciated!
The best option is to just build quality links pointing to your site. Purchase some article or hire a writer that can do it for you. Base on my experience manual SEO work is way more effective than automated ones.
Do blog post on the relvent (that match your website theme) blog, commenting Directory and article submission Besided these there are lots of other things to do You have to be very carefull for this.
Thanks. Is there any sites give a comprehensive list of recommended directories, blogs? I hope there is a website with membership would guide me step by step doing SEO.
You can find alot of "gurus" out there that teaches SEO. But "experience" is still the best teacher if you ask me. Buying a guide is great help BTW.
