I have a surf forum, been up for 2 weeks and so far just myself a mate and 4 others have signed up...new to this any help/suggestions/future members? http://www.yourlocalsurf.com/Forum/
I would write a few articles daily and post them on major articles sites. regarding surfing. ezinearticles.com, www.goarticles.com, and a few more. don't put any link on the body of you articles at the end of your articles say something like "if you like this article and need more info visit here (your link) and squidoo link " then submit a few lens at squidoo.com (this is the link you will have on your article as well ) and there use at least a few link on your body of your lens to your Forum. 2-3 articles a day 1 or 2 lens as well. Also adding a intensive to sign up would help as well. PS/ I would also change the text on my sig to "Your Local surf tips fourm" good luck

The forum is empty and the design color combination is not good. It's irritating the eyes..look for a better design and add some content... the more content you add = the more webpages will be indexed in google = the more traffic you get from SE's = and more people will register and you can make a decent $$. Good luck.
You should hire some "quality" forum poster to create threads, make participation between each others in the first phase when your forum doesn't has enough visitors.
I would look for some blogs on surfing and try to contact the owners and see if you can convince them to join. Also post comments on their blogs and maybe some of their traffic will leak to your forum. Aside from that, see if there are other surfing forums out there and become active on them. Third I'd say consider hiring a paid posting company so you can get a good amount of posts built up so that when prospective members find your forum it doesn't look empty.
I'm a forum owner as well. I would advice you to do some post exchange. My forum age is about the same as yours, it's adult niche but I'm looking for post exchange in the chit-chat section only. promote on forums , write articles daily and if at all possible ppc. You can also put up some videos on you tube.
Become active in any forum remotely related and be sure to put your link in your signature if it is allowed. Google will index those forums along with your link, helping to push your site higher up in the search results.
