I'm looking for ideas on both free or paid approaches. I'm perfectly willing to consider buying reasonbly priced links on high traffic sites if they produce. Does anyone know of any? For paid, it would need to be about $1.00 per 1000 visitors (of people who know they are coming to an arcade site (not pop-under crap)
Link exchanges on the B/S/T forum and traffic exchanges (just google arcade traffic exchange). You can but banner spaces on other arcades and a great way that I found out here on the forums is to have a few custom flash games made with your logo on it and a button the says play more games on it to link to your site. Distribute the games by allowing a free download or hotlinking. Another idea is tomake a myspace and add firends, send out comments and bulletins and messages. I've tried the standard traffic exchanges like funklicks, etc., but the main problem with them is for them to work well you need to have a lot of traffic to begin with -- if you only have 100 visitors a days and send them 5 clicks (and they send you 4 back), it's kind of tough to get ahead. The custom flash games idea souds interesting...
I think it's best for you to go the free advertising root. You will find it hard to get 1000 targetted visitors to your site that costs just $1.
Tell me about it I have decided to commision a game to be made. It looks like it'll run me about $300. Anyone have any ideas how I can best squeeze traffic out of it? I'm gonna need it to produce about 300k pageviews just to break even. Are there any forums that are good for announcing the existance of a new game?
Well your going to have to make the game good, like real good. If you give it to me I'll try to spread the word and I'll put it on my arcade sickestarcade.com with all your links on it etc. But otherwise just post it to highly played arcades and make surethey keep your link on it
It's not tons of traffic, but I use Yahoo answers. There is a lot of people on there that post questions about where they can find new arcade sites to play on...
Maybe you could get the game properly copyrighted and then if they take your links of it, it will be called stealing really as you do not allow it. They will be using your game and claiming it as their own.
