Like many people in this section, I have sites that offer reviews on products offered on Amazon. I am somewhat happy with the current themes I am using, but am always looking for ways to improve conversion rate and bounce rate. Does anyone have any suggestions for free or inexpensive themes that work well in a review format?
Which theme are you using. I am not sure about review themes for Amazon products but there are review plugins which work quite well.
I would say the format of your blog post is important. Have pros and cons, feature list, a picture etc. From what I understand in a blog review format the text links convert well. But I think it would be good to use a plugin that gets live Amazon prices for your products.
This site http://tinyurl.com/3yunlc3 was recently sold on flippa.com for $5701 because it was making $800-$1000 a month with adsense. I would hire a freelancer for dirt cheap to clone that theme and use it in your site. Then i would make all amazon links <H1> BLUE #0000FF, font size larger than normal, Have a blue 2px border around your amazon item image. I would use the following wordpress plugins: 1. Unique Content 2. Amazon Plugin 3. Google Xml Sitemaps. I would also consider removing the Amazon.com buy button because then the potential buyer will want to know what website the item is from and click your H1 Large blue text. Of course it would just be my opinion and is my free advise to you But before all that i would try get as many web 2.0 links as possible.Make youtube/facebook/twitter account. Get followers/backlinks etc. Make some videos. Enjoy your journey!
Great info. Thank you for the suggestions. I did a search for unique content plugin, and it looks like there are several. Is there a specific one that you use and recommend? Also: I know some people feel that using sitemaps is outdated and doesn't have much of an impact. Do you (or anyone else) feel that using the sitemaps plugin helps get your sites ranked quicker? Please also let me know which Amazon plugin you are referring to. I currently use 3 of them, so I am wondering if it is one I already have.
I test and test many of my sites and end-up with one column theme. It has no or zero distraction and let them do the one thing ... click. I will alway have the picture of the product at the beginning and 1 good video review. Hope this help, Santacruz
