I'm thinking launching a banner ad campaign on Facebook. I understand that most people go to Facebook not for commercial reasons. Has any had good success with FB. What type of business or service have you promoted through FB? I'm talking paid ads, not creating pages or groups.

I've tried it for our hosting solutions, had a sale or two but the ROI wasn't worth continuing with it. I guess it all depends what you're trying to market?

I've found FB ads are better for getting more fans, but not sales

It's true, mainly because FB users are usually not in the "buying mode", unlike people who search on Google.

Facebook users are not in the 'buying mode' as said by RIchie. They can be important to gain visibility, exposure and possibly leverage in future purchase decisions. But purchase something straight away, that is going to be difficult when using facbeook ads.
