I get some sales every now and then from places like Gumtree and smaller free classifieds listing where someone would sell a product we also sell and link to us for specs etc. Was just wondering whether I should take a more pro-active approach and add some of these classifieds myself on a consistent basis. It would border on 'spam' I suppose unless some allow merchants to list them but anyway, do any of you use this tactic and if so, to what degree of success? Next question would be 'which sites?'. I saw on GAF people offering money for to bulk list stuff on Craiglist - I guess that's one form of this idea. Any feedback on this?
I actually just started a campaign on a similar idea, woke up this morning with 100 emails in my inbox. Now I just need to work on converting those people into sales. There is a market there and I think you should give it a shot for a week or two and see if it converts well for what you are selling.
I am not putting them in as myself due to the market I am tapping into. You could say that I am the middleman who gets commission on referring customers to a specific product.
I use usfreeads for my classifieds right now and actually get some good traffic from it. Like anything, it depends on the market. I actually spend the 10/15 bucks it costs a month to have premium listings on their site because it just converts so well and drives a bunch of unique targetted traffic. I think alot of not so web savvy people go to the internet looking to buy something, and of course think of the classifieds in the newspaper they read. I really haven't tapped into this market as much as I could, but there's a definite possibility for some good sales and traffic from this kind of thing.
Yes. I have had some success with Craigslist. Took allot of work though creating about 50 email addresses. What I found is that the ads need to be built in html with some imagery rather than all text.
