Any shoes importers from China

    Hi All,

    I just got back from China and I was thinking of importing leather shoes from China and sell them in the US.

    Has anyone doing this already?? How do I start??

    I tried doing this with tennis shoes, but none seem legit. Either the English is so broken and they don't know their own prices when I ask for a price or they start spamming me from numerous different merchants after I inquire about an order total.

    If anyone has a legit wholesaler that they know of...please bless us!

    My relative owns a leather shoes factory in China and they would like me to sell them here in the USA, if you are interested I can send you pictures of some samples.

    My point is that I don't know where to start from, I wanted to figure out how much each pair of shoes will cost until it gets to the US.

    You'll need to get setup with a logistics company that will handle that.. I know a couple that can help if your serious.

    Good place to start. Another place to start is buying a manufacturer's directory. I've seen many of those at the SF Public Library.

    Depend on which way you use to transport the shoes?

    By sea ,by air,by express ?

    You can ask a logistics company in china or in USA.

    I am planning to export something as well ..:)

    I used to do this once upon a time.

    A good place to look for producers/suppliers in China is either Alibaba or Asian Sources.

    Make sure you are dealing with the manufacturer and not a middle man. Demand to see samples. You may be required to purchase the samples, but it's not so expensive. Finally, look around and find a good freight forwarder/customs agent who can help you with importing etc. If I can find some I used to use I will post it later.

    Of course you need to make sure you have where to sell it to and somewhere to store in the meanwhile, and all this while making sure you have a profit.

    Edited: Make sure to see if the price is Ex works (from the factory), FOB (Free OnBoard, they load into onto the boat) of CIF(Cost Insurance Freight, total price including transport and insurance to your nearest port).

    It's not that difficult. If you can't make a trip back to China then just go onto alibaba.com as suggested and email a manufacturer when you find one with the type of shoes you want to sell. Ask them what their minimum order quantity is and get a quote from them that includes shipping.

    Just be careful however and do your homework. If you find a manufacturer make sure they have a good rating in alibaba and they should have their own website as well. The best way however is to actually go to China and in particular the town of Yiwu (which is south of Shanghai) as you can browse the small commodities markets there and view the shoes before you buy.

    My wife's in a shoes exporting company in Guangdong, China, and they have their own factory as well. She has lots of clients, most in US and Europe. As I know, most of their clients do very well. It's a good business. Sometimes she wants to start her own shoes exporting business. But I don't want her to be so hardworking.

    I am an exporter in Shanghai.Our national policy may be a little different to other countries.Some advice might make you avoid some trouble.
    1.make sure the price terms.In my opinion,the Ex-w is not acceptable for you.Firstly,it is difficult for you to do the export customs clearance in China.Secondly,the charge to send the goods to the port from the factory is very large,especially,the factory is far away from the port.
    2.Make sure the whether the factory have the export rights or not.If not,the factory should find an agent(not a forwarder).And you send the money to the agent.
    3.I have also exported the shoes.As far as I know from my clients,it is very easy to do this line.If you are just a retailer,you ask the factory make the designs you like.If you sell the shoes to the distributor or retailer,you just discuss with them and find out the designs they like.And then,ask the factory to make the sample to be confirmed.And after the production and the goods would arrive your port.You send the forwarder the documents(B/L,C/I,P/L,etc.) to do the import customs clearance.
