I am brand new to using a CMS system. All my sites have been made using Dreamweaver with php or htm pages. However, with a completely free CMS such as joombla, is there any reason why someone would not want to it? Or should most people be using them nowadays? Jon
If you have to manage say over a dozen pages or multiple people need to work on them so 'normal staff' isn't dependant on the webmaster then yes, you should use a CMS. For just a corporate site with a homepage and a contact page you should be alright with your DW.
for ease of use (If you're new to this), I'd suggest you use WordPress every time - especially since 2.0 came out.
Not any more... so many changes have been made to wordpress since it's initial release, that it's turning more and more into a full CMS system. Take a look at 2.0 - I think you'd be surprised at how good it really is.
I'm new to CMS but I have hand created about 30 sites, some with MySQL backends. So site creation is not a problem. But ease of site creation will be like heaven for me.
Jon, I have several years of experience with CMS's and some reasons you wouldn't choose a CMS is because it is overkill -- i.e., too many features etc. Just depends on the needs of the client or site features.
