Yeah I've been in the business for over 10 years. Your logos look really nice. When you start to get into full corporate identity work though and professional branding then often, many of the elements that work around the logo also form the identity of the company - such as consistent use of typography and layouts, associated imagery and styles. So when presenting logos, even to small clients, it's often a good idea to show how the logo would work in context - by applying it to stationery or a mock annual report cover or suchlike.
you have got talent mate. I say it as a logo designer (still young but not charging 1$ as some of the logo designers doing here on DP) :S
Thanks. No.. I don't think $1 logos are worth my time. I rather charge $40 (which is still cheap! Most logos are $100+) and then build my portfolio + gain experience
Real professional logo design companys cost so much (1000+) because not only will they design and create several variations of logos based on the clients thoughts, but they will also do some market research into the logo. What they do is they will look at other logos to see if theres nothing too similar that they could get in trouble for, and they also conduct surveys on what other randomly chosen people think of it. They have to collect this all together, and make lots of revisions, which takes time and therefore money. Not sure whether individuals do this, but this is certainly a reason why the olympic logo cost whatever it did, the other reason being that they have too much money and too little taste
That's a good point hecky That gives me an idea.. I should definitely conduct research on logo design. However, this is always ever changing That olympic logo is ugly, maybe it'll be appealing when it's time to use it lol.
Yeah, were doing Advertising in English right now, who would have thought that it would ever come in useful. Lol, and don't get sidetracked, we could talk for hours about the new Olympic logo!
Haha very true I'm going into an advertising design program.. hopefully that'll teach me something since we don't necessarily design logos...
Another thing that designers look for when designing adverts, is the hotspots, where people first look at adverts. A simple google search brought this advert from a magazine as the first result : With added labels signalling hotspots and what they have cleverly put there : Phew...I have too much time on my hands, maybe I should become a logo designer !
Yeah, advertisement designing isn't mindless, theres actually a reason for the placements of things, colors, photographs, etc It's awesome, I love it
