Sorry if i seem to be talking about something i dont know

Since TvCokeCan took my money and finally he came back and is maybe trying to get me my money back, alot of people pmed me asking if its safe to buy from him.

    Then they ask,

    "can't the admin do something?"
"is there any protection at dp from this"
I mean if its unanimously approved that a guy is a scammer shouldnt the admins do something?
Im just wondering, is there any protection, at all?

a simple "no" would do too..

    No.
    No.
No, but if you do get a signed petition from every user in the forum (unanimous, right?), someone will look at it for you.
    Didn't you just ask this?

    Maybe it's a service you could offer... offer DP members insurance of some sort. {shrug}

Nop that wont work anyway =/

Buying sites/domains, sure i have a way to be safe there its full proof!

but buying services and getting stung, only you can solve that...

    Edit

    i think i got it

why not start a dp verification process?
only verified sellers get to sell stuff here, might even get an extra member bar?

And how do you propose to verify sellers?

Didn't say you had the burden, I was just curious how you would handle it if you were a mod/admin.

    Well..

    First whois the sucker
then ask the victim several questions like..

    his paypal email
    his msn email
    logs
    proof that he provided
ask for the time of payment and his paypal email as well
then do the usual things i do when i get scammed, search for his email/nick on other forums, ask their admins for his ip and tele with the one on this forum..

    get his location info
then first put all the pieces together to see if he really did scam or is it just a misunderstanding, in most cases it is.

then if it is handover all info to the victim ban the sucker

oh and then id make a forum of shame, postable only by me, where id post who did what so that it stays there forever, each user that scams will have a thread where ill double/tripple post if he/she scams again WITH all the info ive collected

i think thats enough to make sure the people here are feeling safe, at least "something" is being done..

Why couldn't the user do that themselves?

Yea but theres a problem there...members cant ban...and even a 6yr old can defend themselves, but if someone biugger steps in adn does that its...warm and gives a sense of protection

Since we cant ban people without proof, if a mod/admin is researching scammers and then banning them, it will create a much much better envoirnment for dp...since they would know someone is there to help resolve the matter...

Personally, I would rather just shut down the Buy/Sell/Trade section rather than create more work for mods/admins.

Dealing with other members is at our risk and responsibility. DP does not settle these things. There really is no assurance that your making a good transaction. Sometimes iTrader and Reputation also can't say that.
