Any problems with WP 3.0 and Themes?

I have a custom theme for my Wordpress blog. I'm currently using WP version 2.9.2 and would love to upgrade to 3.0 but I was curious, has anyone had trouble with their themes not working with 3.0? It's great that WP updates so much but it's frustrating when a theme designed and coded for an older version of WP doesn't work.

    Thanks!

Most themes have been updated - Themes that have not been updated are most likely maintained by part time WP developers.

Im still having some issues with some plugins - wp super cache is having issues but im working through them slowly.

I have had more issues with openbase dir restriction with wordpress 3.0.

other than that, all the new gui is nice. Nice updates feature under the dashboard link.

Other than that it looks good.

After upgrading i would wait a couple of weeks before upgrading so all your plugins are compatible.

I have a theme designed just for my site so I guess I'll have to give it a go and test it out in a few weeks. Anyone else with a custom design have troubles?

I usually wait a couple weeks before upgrading anyway, it takes time for developers to upgrade their plug-ins.

I've updated more than a dozen sites now with 3 different templates and about 20 plugins and so far so good.

The key is to update each time... and use the most common commercial and widely accepted plugins. Those authors keep them up to date.

And of course I never update anything without backing it up first. If I have a problem my host will have the backup restored usually within 3 to 5 hours.

I also always start with a low volume site to test.

Good luck. 3 is really sweet!

Yeah, I was thinking about waiting a few weeks. I usually do.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I use the more well-known plugins like WP-PageNavi and WP-MostCommentedPosts so I'm sure they'll eventually be updated soon if they aren't already.

I finally upgraded to Wordpress 3.0.1 and my custom theme seems to be just fine. Which is great because I couldn't afford to hire a programmer right now to update the theme to work with the latest WP. I had one problem with the plugin Page Navi. For some reason when I update it to the newest version which the developers say will work with 3.0.1 it results in an error. So for now I'm just using the older version of the plugin and it's fine.
