    • I am about to start another eccommerce site and I have came up with a catchy brandable name.
    • There is also a keyword I would like to rank for.

    Here's my plan
    -buy mybrand.com and mybrandkeyword.com
    -build the site on mybrandkeyword.com
    -implement a 301 redirect on mybrand.com

with this, all seems well to use the mybrand.com for business cards, e-mail addresses and marketing material. And do seo for the mybrandkeyword.com. Do you see any problems with this? The only foreseeable possible issue I have, is in the future if people were to start organically linking to my site it would be to the mybrand.com and the link juice would be slightly watered down via the 301 redircet. Ady advise appreciated.

I suggest to inform the use that your official page is mybrand.com so that they won't get confuse.

It's much better in the whole to use the mybrand.com domain altogether. It is no longer critical these days to have your main target keyword in your domain name. You can get your mybrand.com site ranking for the same keyword/s you'll be using in mybrandkeyword.com

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
