Just curious. I'm still sitting on a PR0 and e-mailed Google recently. Fortunately they said that my site wasn't penalized, so that obviously eliminates that theory. The site's been up for nearly four months and I thought for sure I'd see a PR by now but no such luck. I'm just hoping to see some green up there at some point...the sooner the better Any insight? Ian
No. My source at Google told me tonight in a phone conversation that there will be no more PR updates. They are tired of all the pressure from webmasters and have decided to phase it out. In future, they will rank all my sites in the #1 position for any and all selected search terms. Everyone else will be ranked 200 - 2 gazillion. Resistance is futile. You can click on one of my sites... or, as far as Google is concerned, you can go to hell.
OMG. What will all the webmasters do with their free time now that there will be no PR updates to discuss?
We'll do what we did BEFORE Google... ...talk about cars, football, and chicks, not necessarily in that order...
LOL - this thread is so filled with biting sarcasm I'm having a hard time taking anyone's advice seriously, it's quite entertaining. PR Updates are like Backlink updates to me - It's nice to have visual proof that google is recognizing your efforts (even if you know they really have been all along). Everyone is just a little bit like that I think.
Does it really matter, one of my new sites www.Mussoorie-Hotels.com started with a PR 3 and then has sunk back to 0 after 2 months while keywords the no 1-10 in google listing are steadily increasing. So how do u explain that. Rakesh, Around Delhi
Exactly, arounddelhi. Stop worrying about monitoring all the "visible factors" that go into Google ranking -- Google doesn't want you to have a lot of information about them anyway -- and start paying attention to the Google search results. And then while you're doing that bear in mind that Google has been rolling out some changes (3.5 of them according to GoogleGuy) for a few weeks now and evidently isn't yet finished. While that's in progress, you're going to drive yourself crazy monitoring all the ups and downs daily...
