I have so many things going on right now, I can barely keep track of them most days. But I'm not just talking websites, because I only have one. I'm thinking about all the different ways I market it as well as maintaining my site. I just set little goals for myself for each thing. I try to add at least one thing to my site each day, write one article for submission, post in forums, reply to emails, etc. etc. It's hard to do even one of those things being a stay at home mom, but I have to set priorities and try to manage them well. Obviously, my daughter is my first priority, but once the money situation gets a little better, I might also try to outsource. It would be nice to get someone else to do the technical work while I work on the writing. What's more valuable to you? Time or money?
Well, there you go. That would be outsourcing But try to think of it the other way. If you hired someone to free up more time for you, could you use that extra time to find more ways to bring in even more money?
True, true. I'm in the same boat you are. Don't you wish there were more hours in the day? Or more minutes in an hour? Actually, I'd rather have a money tree in my backyard.
I have only one site and I worry that it is like having all my eggs in one basket. What if I were to accidentally do something to wreck my PageRank or whatever it is now? I don't have the motivation to start another site to diversify because a new site will have to be in a sandbox forever. Try to develop two at a time at least...
Getting pulled in a dozen different directions is my specialty. Having kids makes it easier because whatever work I'm doing is less hectic than what the little ones would be throwing at me . Take right now for instance... I'm updating site templates to four different areas, doing a vb upgrade, working on 4 crystal reports, planning a software deployment for one client, preparing a bid for another, and fudging around on the web in a hopeless attempt to avoid work. That's much less hectic than what things will be like in about an hour and a half when both my two year old and my (almost) two month old wake up and throw the house into a frenzy. The fact that my floor is cement (we had a flood and had to tear out the carpet and wood floors) right now doesn't even phase me because it's just one more thing to add to my daily confusion and since I already have so much going on I can just ignore it and sit here on my half-a-couch next to my dining room table that's covered with toys and an air purifier, in front of my non-operational tv (which is half-way in the fireplace) and pretend it's like any other working saturday night.
Because of (1) the sandbox and (2) the SERPS bonus given to sites with older WHOIS data... Register any site you think of -- it may be an interesting project two years down the road.
That's what business is all about. Can you get a better return on the work your employees put in and can you make more money out of the time that you would have spent doing their job. If not then there's no point in employing that person to do that job.
My little nephew is going on 6 months and he already knows if you hit the "windows" key youll piss off mommy or granny hehe
There's someone that thinks like me . Register them, create a theme, set up a quick 5-10 pager for now and get back to the task(s) at hand...within reason of course. (nevets is Xxxtreme )
