    I would suggest reading tutorials online.
    There are vasts amounts of information on web design floating around the internet, from many different perspectives.

    Books are good too, but imo you're better off just using google ;)

    You can download Lynda.com Video tutorials. That's better than other learning.

    Check our O'Riely books. headfirst.. its very good.. they rely more on graphical way of teaching unlike the plain old text form..

    I would start at w3schools.com If you need a book the head first books are good.
