Just discovered they have a affiliate program, anyone out there use it? were you successful? any tips? thanks in advance!
Once again, I rescue you in the form of links. For one, apparently this program has been around for years. Look at the post date. Someone trying it out and reviewing it.
Never heard about that. I know my affiliate network - www.rupizmedia.com, which is offering a great commissions value through their merchants and the affiliate joining programme is free. So you can join this at free of cost and you can earn a big commission for advertisement.
but the iTunes staff have strange rules to accept or deny a site into network... your page might be refused depending on different factors.
I am, but I haven't earned anything yet. You only make 5 cents on a 99-cent download, so it would take a lot to earn much.
I am a big fan of it, in fact so much as to have just wrote and released a book about the subject. More on that later. I currently have three sites that use the iTunes Affiliate Program as their primary revenue stream. I am happy to report that it is just enough to support my ski bum lifestyle. Although the payout is only 4 to 5% it is still a music store. Places well known to keep people hooked for hours and upsell and cross sell the galore out of people. My average sales are well above just $.99. Now with the app section of the store blowing up sales are really getting up there. Depending on which affiliate network you join them with you can get paid via check or direct deposit. They typically pay once a month but of course get delayed from time to time. So, I liked this question so much that I actually used it in my book for the FAQ. http://masteringitunes.com/itunes-affiliate-frequently-asked-questions/ Check it out!
I tried to apply the other day through Linkshare but my application was turned down for undisclosed reasons. My site does talk about music as well as other topics and the traffic is fairly ok. Perhaps they only accept PURE music related sites. Not sure. Kind of wish I would have gotten accepted because I would gladly focus more of my time on music than some of my other businesses
What I have found is to keep reapplying. LinkShare will let you do this every two weeks. Also after they deny you then write them an email back explaining how you would use the affiliate program and how much traffic you have and blah blah blah. Be sure to be courteous but also give them a good compelling reason as to why they should let you into the program. That has worked for me a few times. It seems like they sometimes just deny you to see how bad you want in.
Well thanks JLake! I appreciate you telling me that. I love music and it sure would be great to make a few bucks from it on the site. I'll keep trying and reapplying. Thanks again.
Totally, I mean I listen to music all day as I work at the computer anyway. Might as well share my opinions on some tunes right?
Exactly! If you are into music I think the iTunes Affiliate Program is a no-brainer. Also check out the Amazon MP3 store affiliate program too. Options are good right?
