Is there any use in creating a image hosting web site. I believe I found two niches that could both use one. I remember seeing a photo hosting service where all that appeared was a thumbnail and then when it was clicked you saw the picture with adsense ads surronding it. Anyone know what script that was. This seems liek the most reasonable way to conserve bandwith and have a chance of profitting from services like this.
I create Ebay Auction Templates for ebay sellers - there are a bunch of image host out there making money - Iwopuldn't say its a killing, but its mostly passive income - build it and they will come I had a simple little 'upload your image and write down the url' page for a while, but that seemed rather low tech - unfortunately it was as tech as I get I would love to expand my product features by offering a co-branded image hosting solution - so if you decide to go ahead with an image hosting service and you want to partner up - I'd be interested in discussing that. The problem with ebay image hosting is that if the server has 'issues' - the sellers come UNGLUED - so redundant systems and higher than standard uptimes would be a MUST. (but anyways - I'me getting off the subject. ) Yes - I think you can make money with an image hosting solution - especially with the tasteful inclussion of adsense
The bandwidth is a real killer. In 1 month I was transfering over 100 G/month. After listing the site on multiple designer forums. Make sure you have income and cashflow to get a dedicated server fast. Cause you host will suspend the site if it eats too much. My site is down for a few weeks now... Still looking for a good dedicated host.
ephotohut.com <-- I have the exact script they use. I don't see where people would make money from this though unless they signned up for the membership. AzAkers if you think you could get some power sellers to get monthly accounts I'll go ahead and set up the site. Guess we loss $8 for the domain.
You could programmed a Flash based image hosting site that allows users to hover over certain parts of the image and get a description or note. Oh wait, it was done by Flickr and they just got bought out by Yahoo. http://www.flickr.com/
www.imageswarm.com www.upithere.com www.warcrafthost.com www.picforce.com (Adult related) They all use PHPKImageHost. http://image.krazyletter.com/ It's a good script http://forums.krazyletter.com/index.php?showforum=59
I think image hosting is a crowded market. Plus you would need some major bandwidth which still can be expensive overtime. If you are looking to start a business like image hosting, I would suggest a niche blog community. A place were you can limit the number of people that sign-up to write blogs for free on a niche topic. There are some good and free multi-blogging scripts. I would suggest plog.
Take a look at : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2170032 I think this is a new idea and I would really like your opinion on my idea. I'm trying to offer help, but I need input. Twas
