Oh good... I wonder if the teachers/administration at my high school ever thought I would be a role model for anything. haha (No, they didn't... heh)
Thats cool to see that school really doesnt proove anything... I have 52 hours of detention currently and I bought several OReilly books to make some use of that time, by the time I serve my time Ill probably be an expert at Java, PHP, and XML ... PS My Calc teacher gave me 7 hours of detention for refusing to pass out papers...can you believe that... ------------------------------------------------ What highschool in Plano? Im from PSHS
I had uhm... 35 DAYS of Saturday school when I graduated. The impressive thing is they were all from the 2nd semester of my senior year.
Is that in CA, cause here in Texas you cant do that... My subschool prinicipal threatened to take away my car, house arrest, fine me $500, and pretty much take my life away if I didnt serve the hours consecetivly with out being tardy or anything, if I didn't then I get sent to truency court and I loose all my semester credits which would suck since my parents dont really care what I do, webmastering wise as long Im passing. Anywayz here in Texas they would stick you under house arrest and make your life a living hell specially with the new laws... But with all this shit its is still worth it... Today I got my report card and I had a 46 in Calc, the screwed up thing was that I had a 0 HW average...all I could say to my dad was that I have my priorities and this is what i must do, I just cant imagine in the next 5 years working a nine to 5...school is just an insurance policy but at what price
Yeah, I spent my senior year, last day of school in the Vice Principal's office serving detention for skipping 3 years of study hall to go to Wal-Mart to play nintendo. They found out the day before graduation (3 years later) and did not know what else to do. Those were the days.
Me too actually for bad behaviur.. at 16 years age.. I can't get any education now so I must put all effords in becomming a web billionaire
Iatehorn: Education comes in many forms - most of which are outside a classroom setting. The school of hard knocks seems to be the most popular. However, there are probably many mentoring programs for what you're looking to do (being a web billionaire). Sure, they cost money (but college does too - and that isn't going to prepare you to be a web billionaire) and the return is so much greater in what you learn, the network of friends you make and keep, and the quality of those friends who keep on encourging you to do better than you ever thought you could. Take it from someone who dropped out of college a few months ago. I've learned more in those few months than I ever did in 3 years of college about real life, Financial Education Principles - which include wealth accumulation, how to keep it, and what to do once you have it. BTW, the link is to my personal blog about Financial Education Principles that I wrote not too long ago.
I flunked gym class... had to do an essay about the olympics to be able to pass to the next grade... Beat that!
Quitign school is very risky. Works for some, fails for most. Usually entreprenurial goals aren't met and you either have to settle for a lousy job or go back to school.
This thread's been an interesting read You didn't specify what currency it was necessary to be a millionaire in... I could probably find a million dong if necessary. (Points to the first person to identify the country). Anyway, it's harder to be a millionaire in the UK than it is the US... £1 = $1.7. I think if I had to work it out, my net worth would probably be very close to zero actually, but then I do have about £15,000 of student debts! So this thread also seems to have descended into a "who was the biggest rebel at school" game - unfortunately I think I lose as I was one of the boring kids that progressed through school, did all the exams, went to university, graduated and started work! Only got suspended from school once although did have plenty of detentions. By the way, the Texas school system sounds pretty draconian! Were you taking the piss when you mentioned fines and car confiscations and all that stuff? I hope so!
