What about becoming an editor? I applied about a week ago and I got a rejection the same day. I applied again the same day but haven't heard anything yet.

DMOZ has gotten hopeless. Your chances of getting added are slim to none at this point...especially now that their 'add a link' service is back up.

The severe technical issues they have been having have seriously affected the site and the staffs ability to stay on top of the ever increasing demand. I hope they'll start catching up at some point, but I don't even think they are displaying the real database right now. The public pages do not reflect the most recent updates made to the directory, so for all you know you might be in already!

I am definitely back to this thinking, was told they would be approving sites but they definitely don't, they're still biased, it's a waste of time.

Using the word "luck" when it comes to DMOZ is accurate. You can have luck and the editor likes your site. But there don't seem to be any real guidelines for editors, and if there are, they sure are not being followed correctly.

I'm surprised no one mentioned befriending a DMOZ editor, or just *slipping some cash* to an editor. :D

Most of DMOZ editor are corrupt. They only listed their own sites or their friend's site. Many of junks site listed there. I wonder why Google still give value to this directory.

As other said, submit and forget it. :D Depends on luck or editor mood. Not depends on quality, useful, unique of your site.

It depends on your luck. If the category is not overcrowded/ and it has editors, then it’s not a big deal. my personal home is also listed on DMOZ.

Even as an editor, you get your application rejected while hundreds of people have been waiting for their web sites to be reviewed in a topic with no editor!

Even if you get listed in Dmoz, it won't improve your web site rating as many have said

    Just forget it -as simple

    Submit and forget.
    If you get in, bonus.
    If not, no big loss.

lol - I'd link to the blog post, but I don't have the rep to submit links yet :(
Do a Google search on "corrupt dmoz editor" and you'll find the "How To" guide.
