Any Libertarians on here?

Or am I the only one....?

If forced to describe myself I would say I was a libertarian atheist - though, as I tend to disagree with most people on most issues (would make a horrible politician), I separate from the libertarians on some issues such as free trade and home schooling. I conceitedly consider myself a Jeffersonian man.

Take the World's Smallest Political Quiz - you may be a libertarian and not even know it.

Libertarian policy wouldnt work. You can't completely privitise everything. Also isolationism which is tied with libertarianism isn't a good idea.

Last time I took the World's Smallest Political Quiz, I was somewhat of a liberal. I'm all over the place in my beliefs, though.

Does that include Presbyterians and Antidisestablishmentarianists?

Probably the Liberal party - apparently, their goal is to have everything in the country privately owned by registered Liberals :D

the liberatrian party sound good all, I think its good to have more then 2 visible parties

but do they ever do anything?

They run a presidential canidate , which is basically a waste of time

are they running people for small offices, like city and state positions?

Members of that party have a maximum height of 3.9 inches - this is part of the charter or constitution of the party and cannot be revoked.

Consequently, they are only able to run for small offices - they can't reach the desks in larger offices.

If I recall correctly, yfs1 is a member of that party. He is actually 4 inches tall but I believe they made an exception because he claimed (falsely) to be Irish.

The problem with the Libertarians is the platform has flaws that will never allow it to become a majority. For example, Libertarians support an open border policy. How many Americans actually want an open border policy?

There are problems with every party out there :(
I don't think many can say they actually support all of their parties policies.

Very true, but an open border policy is quite extreme in my opinion

Having a few policies that most people disagree with is hardly a problem unique to the Libertarian party. For example, Republicans want guns & Bibles to rule the country, and Democrats want everyone with a job to subsidize welfare for illegals. Most people would probably disagree with both of those policies.

Many Libertarians (myself included) dispute the party's open border platform, including both of their last two Presidential candidates, so I suspect that's a point that will go away.

I am intrigued by this. Please expand on this thought. Why isn't isolationism a good idea?

I think it's a great idea, for a country in the US' position. What good do our international exploits do us? Just piss off more other countries. If you look at it in strictly economic terms, having more countries hate us only impedes our ability to buy & sell at favorable prices.

By the same philosophy, it's essential to lock down our borders, throw out illegals, and eliminate third world outsourcing. That's Economics 101: there is a limited amount of wealth in the world and a growing number of people. To raise the standard of living in the third world by 1%, we'd have to cut the US standard of living by 50%.

The more the US can isolate itself economically, the longer the US will hold onto its disproportionately high standard of living.

A friend of mine is a professor of game theory as applied to international economics. She lives in Mathematica on OS X. One night we were drinking wine and she was explaining this all to me - AMAZING, AMAZING stuff - or at least the wine was really good. :)

Don't expect more than a rude one liner from Iamned. I'd also love to see a thought out response, but not going to hold my breath waiting for it.
