Any IQ online tests?

I just found an old IQ test I did for a job... shows 115, is that good?

Where can I take a good online test? Most of what I found doing a search doesn't seem very professional

Over 140 - Genius or near genius
    120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
    110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
    90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
    80 - 89 - Dullness
    70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
    Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness

    Normal Distribution & IQ Scores
The properties of the normal distribution apply to IQ scores:

50% of IQ scores fall between 90 and 110
70% of IQ scores fall between 85 and 115
95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130
99.5% of IQ scores fall between 60 and 140

Most online tests can't measure true IQ though as they are abbreviated and unsupervised

Yeah, I guess you are right.

I'm sure I have a higher IQ, my problem is that I suffer from ADD... after answering a few questions my mind just starts wandering around and I can't concentrate any more :(

Have a play at tickle.com and see what they say ;)

I can't remember but I honestly believe that if you spend some time doing the types of puzzles they ask you then you can boost your score. Are you brighter? No, just practiced.

I did a test years ago to gain entrance into a post grad uni course (that I eventually turned down) and was stunned at how highly I was graded (no practice) and still have it. My husband asked me why and nearly wet himself when I said "because it says I'm clever". Are you actually dumb when you need a piece of paper to tell you you're clever?

I think real IQ tests are a few hours long while most online ones are around 25-50 questions.

Then they graciously offer to email you a report which of course has ads. They can be off by as many as 20-30 IQ points which is a lot

My highschool IQ test was the one that is quite traumatic. I got a score way below the average, and I really blamed my self for being so dumb.

Online IQ tests are not reliable...I can score very high because I hve seen the questions before in many other places. They are nomally not properly designed or standardized. Most people will disregard the allotted time and go over....I did a paper on IQ tests for a college class

they are more for how educated you are..especially the related words. knowing word definitions doesn't have a whole lot to do with IQ

Which part is off, the percentiles?
They may be a bit outdated but I would be interested to see more recent ones. Are we getting smarter or dumberer? :D

A bit of each. These days the standard IQ test is one of the Wechsler scales, which is normalized (as are most IQ tests these days) to a mean of 100 with a standard deviation of 15. That means that a range of 85 - 115 (100 plus or minus one standard deviation) is "average intelligence" (sometimes subcategorized into low, mid-, and high average) and basically two-thirds of the poulation will fall into this range. The remaining one-third are evenly split between below average and above average.

    http://www.wilderdom.com/personality/L2-1UnderstandingIQ.html

The average IQ score is 100. The standard deviation of IQ scores is 15. So, this means:

    · 50% of people have IQ scores between 90 and 110
    · 2.5% of people are very superior in intelligence (over 130)
    · 2.5% of people are mentally deficient / impaired / retarded (under 70)
    · 0.5% of people are near genius or genius (over 140)

If you want to know your own IQ, here's the options...
    · Option 1: The Web: Hunt around on the net, but there's really only gimmick tests for free. If you find a good one, let me know. You can opt to pay, but you'll probably get sucked in to paying more than what its worth. Sorry, but I teach psychology at university, and have spent several hours hunting around for a good, free, IQ test online and it doesn't seem to exist. But I'm an optimist too - so try these links to intelligence test examples & free online IQ tests

    · Option 2: Buy Eysenck's book "Know Your Own IQ": Low cost, good quality, and quite accurate. The book has all the questions and scoring, etc. and is readily available, a small, cheap paperback. Its been around since the 1960's and is by one of the all-time most respected psychological gurus (though somewhat controversial) on intelligence testing.

    · Option 3: Get a Professional IQ Test: If you go to a psychologist, they can administer a formal one-on-one intelligence test, such as the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) (there's a children's version too), or the Raven's Progressive Matrices. These results are generally very reliable and well-respected. A test like the WAIS also gives IQ scores on many different sub-scales.

minstrel comment: Also note that accurate intepretation of IQ scores requires that one understand the task demands and what conditions can affect them. People with conditions like ADHD, dyslexia, educational deficits, anxiety disorders, depression, etc., or with certain types of brain damage may score somewhat lower on certain subtests - not because they are less "intelligent" per se but because they do more poorly on those types of tasks.
