I am an Indian and am full time webmaster/online marketer. Yes, I make money online to fully support myself.
You need inspiration, this can be that.:D

I was a programmer also around 4 years back, when I left my job and started my web development company. I am happy I did that.

Ok but that means you have employees working for you, that doesn't count. So can you compare you and 5 employees in marketing to you and 5 employees consulting as programmers?

I would rather spend my time studying and getting an MBA rather than working my ass off online for peanuts.

FYI, an MBA earns _atleast_ $1500 a month, and they don't work their asses off for that unlike other BS/BSc/BE grads or internet marketers.

I work for my company as well and work alone as well. I have my blog where I blog about my findings (and not of the company).

That is surely not true. I used to get paid around $1500 three years back as a kernel programmer at VERITAS India office.

An average computer science graduate from any IIT institutes would get around $1000+/month for sure as a programmer.

jhn2001, just read his signature, you will be surprised.

"For Programmers in India they always pay less than $500..." True. 5 years ago. Today even starters get more.

Then, if money is important, can they ask more qualified people in this companies about income ? If it's with rules of course. If not and raise will not come soon if ever just fuck these IBM etc. and go to firm where salary is important part.

I am from Ukraine, we have very similar economic situation with India. Find here programmer who will work for $550 in nowadays like a win a lottery:)

For me personally, I would focus on learning the high paying technology such as Java or .Net. Online marketing has many ups and down and it is difficult for me to base my entire living upon it. So I do it part-time and that has worked well for me. It is not easy by any means and you'll need to sacrifice a lot of sleepless nights working on your methods.

The worst part is that they make them work from 8 to 12 hours a day  But again if you were an programmer initially and then u stepped to marketing then it will be really profitable.,

    programing+marketing=$$$$$$$$ Deadly combination

12 hours ? That is really shit. 8 hours a day / 5 day a week is a standart everywhere. Don't be too soft with this guys, maybe it's time for lawsuit ?

I am not sure programming help a lot, at least you can hire people from time to time and there are many ready made things, in the end PHP is not so hard language, but it helps to be knowledgable that's for sure.

jhn2001, as soon as i read your thread looking for inspiration from an indian netrepreneur, the person who came to my mind was Jim Karter.

Take the time to read Jim Karter's blog and you'll be amazed you much he's making and the ideas he shares on his blog :)
