Any ideas whats going on with Google

For a number of years I have demonstrated the value of backlinks on SEO by using the Adobe Acrobat example.

Yesterday when I typed in "click here" Adobe appeared at number 4, whats going on they have been at number 1 for years?

Sandbox, How?

This is Adobe's acrobat download page not mine, and it is on page 1 of Google in position 4.

2 reasons I can think of are, less people linking to the page, as most people have acrobat or Google have changed the weighting/value of the backlinks?

 

Google is a mystery, no on can predict it and it is always pretending.

 

Nice tool. Mine defaulted to Google.co.uk. No sign of Adobe there. Maybe they've wised up to SEO.

 

Maybe Adobe started using some of those links for some keyword benefit. Its nice to rank for "click here", but whats the use?

 

The caffeine release of Google search in June has implemented many changes. I don't think any of us really know specifically has changed but it's a pretty safe bet that caffeine is the reason.
