I am seeing a huge growth in the UK of company and product review websites. They all (or a lot of them anyway) pay for users to review local companies or products they use. My wife just signed up to one that is paying £1 per review. I cant see any obvious income being generated by these websites (no adsense, no affiliate banners, nothing of any note to indicate an income source), so my question is how on earth are they generating revenue in order to pay their end users? A couple of examples: www.bview.co.uk www.dooyoo.co.uk ww.qype.co.uk And while Im at it - any idea what script they are using here? Just thinking if its a decent model......lol Thoughts greatly appreciated.
It's list-building. These companies want to build a community. They may eventually roll out banner ads but the primary goal is probably to gather demographic information and build lists. Sign up and see what happens and what information you are asked for.
http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/ has advertising and links to buy products that are reviewed so they'll be earning through affiliate deals and adverts http://www.bview.co.uk/ also has links to shop online and vouchers so affiliate deals again http://www.qype.co.uk has advertising If they get good enough traffic they can charge a lot for advertising
