Hi there, I run a dog owners forum at http://k9base.com now this is a very niche forum and I am having trouble finding ways to advertise it. Not many directories etc actually list dog forums... I would really appreciate some good ideas on how I can build this forum up Anything at all! I am willing to give it a shot!
It will be better if you advertise it on a samelike site, or adwords might work to boost it up alittle
Yeah I am thinking of trying out adwords, can it be very sucessfull for a site like this? Not a lot of other dog forum sites want to advertise dog forums as they understand how hard it can be to get members and don't want other sites stealing theirs lol.
There's a lot of dog/puppy forums to join and promote your site. I owned a puppy forum before and I never experienced having some members.
one thing you can do is to get some video of dogs, just playing around, you would be surprised at how many people will look at a regular video like that, I have a friend that has some Great Danes, and I put up a video, short one even and got a lot of people coming in from youtube, something to think about.
download icanhas cheezburger and icanhas hotdog videos from youtube, brand them with the name of your site at the beginning and end, and a link in the description with a good call to action. Then post them all over youtube and other video sharing sites. Those videos are rediculously popular.
Best way to really get the forum off to a great start is to employ forum posters who really know well about dogs and have them fill up the forum with useful contents. That might involve heavy investment but nevertheless, I see it as one of the ways.
I would highly suggest making funny/cute YouTube videos, MySpace marketing, Facebook marketing, and Craigslist marketing. PM me if you need some help getting this done in the pet space.
