    Hi,
i have a new site called Internet Labyrinth.
It is some kind of online game where the goal is to find the exit from the labyrinth.
I am planing to give prizes for the winner ( currently $1000)
My problem is that i don't know in which niche to advertise this site .
It is a game and also a community site ( the winner will be decided by voting).
Any ideas how to make people register on the site.
The registration is free and the site should be a good project ( i think so :) ).
Could you give me some ideas where to advertise with the small budget i have.
I have set as a primary goal to have 1000 registered members (without spammers).
How long and how much money would i need to achieve this goal?
I have currently 150 members, from few links that a have made.
    Any ideas would be helpful
    Thanx

Well, you set your goal very high. I would suggest putting the contest in your sig link at other gaming community boards and start posting away.

    Sorry, I missed something...
Do you have chosen which niche to suite (the final choice) or not?

How to launch your project? My ideas are:

    1. Optmize your pages for search engines and get free targeted traffic (the Best!)

    2. Buy guaranteed targeted traffic (stay away from FAKE visitors)

    3. Get PLR articles. Add your content inside them and do multiple submissions on articles directories

    4. Use marketing toolbars like InstantBuzz or mine (www. toolbar.eoltt.com ) and promote your link

    5. Subscribe to manual traffic-exchanges, but don't surf. It's better you pay for their traffic without surf (a waste of time and boring)

    After that...

    6. Create a blog that suites your niche website | use your blog to post some news and promote your website

    7. Create a toolbar on CONDUIT.COM and promote it to your members

    8. Post to forums...and try to choose forums related to your niche

    9. Do manual submissions to directories and get free traffic

    ...More to come. Ok?

First of all thank you for very helpful ideas.
I am new to internet marketing, and this helps me a lot.( i am a medicine student - 3 exams until the end :D ).

    When you said :
"Buy guaranteed targeted traffic (stay away from FAKE visitors)"
Can you tell me where can i get guaranteed traffic, where visitors are actually see my site.
All i see in offers are pop-under and redirected traffic.
But i don't really believe that these are real visitors who actually see my site.
Where could i buy real visitors for a reasonable ?

What about advertising free on forums that allow you to promote contests? This will also help you get back links.

Sounds to me like you have a good gaming site that would be applicable to a general audience.

I haven't seen the site so I can't see the specifics, but you could get a press release written about it and submit that.

Also a myspace page for your site might help.

Buy some links or do link exchanges with other gaming sites.

Take a look at the site tenhunt.com - you might be able to analyze how they got started and apply their advertising methods to your site.

How does this work? I thought the winner would be the first one to find the exit...

Nope, Whoever finds the exit becomes a candidate for the prize.
All candidates "fight" for their votes with blogs, image galleries, they invite friends, buy or sell votes etc.
It is impossible to build a labyrinth which is so difficult so that the first one gets the prize. I could of course cheat with the labyrinth ,making it impossible but not telling the members, but that isn't fair and on the long term you just loose your members.

I think that the idea is interesting enough, but the main problem is to get quality traffic to it.

I get it now. Haven't seen anything with that idea yet.

The reason I mentioned tenhunt.com is that you could have multiple labyrinths, one for each contest. Then have multiple contests, one at a time.

One idea would be to have more than one labyrinth for each contest (like levels of a video game), then at the end of each one the person gets a clue. Then they put together all the clues to figure out the final "answer" that wins the prize.

Focus on big game forum communities & social bookmarking sites.
