Hi, I run the site www.ukcropcircles.co.uk. At the moment we are generating about 20,000 page views per month. The only revenue is generated from adsense clicks, which is practically nothing due to the nature of the site. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Dak
I think the problem is not your content, but a combination of being in the UK and where your ad is. I'd expect a CPM of under $1 for a bottom of the page, small size ad. If you go with 728 x 90 at the top of the page you will probably double your revenue, at least, immediately. Likewise a skyscraper ad on right or left side. I would CERTAINLY add in the other type of ad (can't remember the name but it gives four or five phrases which open up new search windows). Of course there ARE sites where Google doesn't work well - http://rootes-chrysler.co.uk comes to mind - and for those, you try to sell text links, and with your viewership you should be able to get $30-60 per month for the home page.
Here are a few ideas: 1. Open a store (use a service such as Cafepress.com to do it w/o much overhead, if any), and create tee shirts, stickers ... anything they offer. 2. You could try selling advertising to similar sites to take advantage of your pageviews. Start offering ads inexpensively to build a bit of a reputation and attract smaller sites, then increase rates as demand increases or your pageviews increase. 3. Are there any features you can include in a members' only area? Maybe have an inexpensive paid membership (just $2-3 per month or something), and let members have access to additional forum areas, features, better quality photos, and maybe run contests for them (such as something like making their own crop circle and sending photos). 4. You only have one article, and it's pertaining to 2004. Start writing, or buying, more. The increased content, if you optimize it well, will bring in more search engine traffic, and Adsense revenue will likely increase as traffic does. 5. Look into science or sci-fi affiliate programs. 6. Write an ebook on crop circles and either sell it, or create a newsletter and give the ebook away for free when people sign up for it as an incentive. If you can build a big enough opt-in email list, you might have better luck charging for advertising space in the newsletters, since advertisers know the audience specifically requested the info from you, and you'll have verifiable numbers. Hope some of those help to at least get you thinking along some different lines. Jenn
my site www.kariblinktv.com gets from 8k-10k uniques daily and I can't find anything that does well. With over 2 million page views monthly I should be able to make some money. Adsense make about $10-$20 monthly, look at the stats here http://www.kariblinktv.com/plesk-stat/webstat I m thinking of trying azoogle and more ringtone releated ads
I couldn't see any adsense either. Also the site took two clicks to enter. I's drop the animation and send the user straight to the content and put some adsense fairly prominently on the site.
I'd definitely move your AdSense up toward the top of your page if you want to earn any money from it - ads below the fold are dead. In addition, you may want to get rid of the border and change the background color and link color to match those of your site. These changes alone should significantly increase your CTR. HTH, Sam
You have an AWESOME site!!! I love stuff like that...Yeah, maybe a cheap membership section.. As the site grows, you can up your membership fee..Best of luck with making some money with it! Danny
