Since this is a vertical that I've never really delt with before, I'm looking for some feedback on my strategy and some new ideas. The site is similar to Apartments .com - There are pages optimized for every state, and many individual city markets. Landlords/management companies list their apartment/complex, users browse/search/find local available apartments/details The site is a PR5; state (apartments in Arizona) and city pages (apartments in Phoenix) have PR3s-4s. The site ranks well for many "Apartments for Rent" terms, especially the local " 'CITY' apartments for rent" terms - but I'm looking to build even more relevancy and ranking for local search terms. I am currently pursuing inbound links for the individual state and city pages. I've focused on websites that have local (city/state) & theme (apartment/rental) relevancy in the content, title, and other optimization elements. Most of what I've found (and ignored) are either competitive apartment listing sites or PR0 real estate directories with tons of links/poor optimization/little content. I've moved my strategy toward finding more 'local' pages: - local furniture rental places - blogs/articles about city XYZ - local real estate agent pages - apartment maintenance company sites - local rental property group sites - college housing resources sites etc So - I guess I'm looking for some feedback - a second set of eyes on the strategy so far, and any ideas you might have on how I can improve on it moving forward.
I've had a client for a couple years that i've built 2 apartment sites. One main source of getting incoming links is through real estate agents. Great way to get links. Top rankings for all main keywords and sub-keywords (sub-cities). It sounds like a good strategy though. Staying on both the "apartment" and "city" side of gaining links is key with local type clients.
