Any Ideas About Why I Can't Get Indexed?

    Hello all,

I am getting really frustrated with Goolge. I can't figure out why they will not index my site listed below in my sig. I have done everything to insure that they spider my site, and spider it correctly. I have a robots.txt, a sitemap, etc. but still nothing. I have been indexed by Yahoo, MSN, and Altavista. I don't play any tricks like Google says not to do, and I don't believe to be blocked because Google states that if you site is blocked it is because it can't assign any PR to it, like it says here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35665&topic=8510. My current pagerank is updating to 2 ( going from 0 to 2 because all centers not updated yet). So, any ideas? Google visits me at least 1-2 times a week (not a lot, but enough to get indexed) and I don't get any errors or anything back from them, I have backlinks showing with them too. So everything else from pagerank to backlinks is ok with them, just no indexing. AHHHH! It's been since June I've had this site up, btw. HELP!

Do you recieve any refferals from Google at all?

You have page rank, a ton of links even Google is showing, and your first page is cashed. Looks like you should be indexed. (minor detail that site: doesn't believe that :( )

I did notice that you have some more serious html errors. There are some <p>, <div> and table errors, these might be serious enough that the spider is unable to tell what the text is. I would try to get rid of as many errors as you can, the alt tags and stuff like that shouldn't be a problem but the formatting ones might be.

The HTML errors are only due to the video I have embedded on my site at the moment. If I remove the video, there are no errors. I don't believe that to be the problem, 90% of the time that my site has been up, it has passed HTML verification, since that video has not been on there the whole time.

And no, I receive NO traffic at all from Google. But, good thought though. I will continue to make sure my site has as much clean HTML as possible!

This domain exists, at least, since 2003. Check archive.org.

Maybe a former owner of the domain did things Google does not like and got banned. If this is the case, you should explain to Google and ask for re-inclusion.

Yeah.. I learned this the hard way. Don't buy expired domains unless you really know the history of the domain.

It's really hard to wipe the slate clean after google sees the domain as bad.

    Good luck

Yah, I noticed the video errors, They are probably not a problem. When you put them in you may have cased some tag problems though, those should be addressed.
Someone mentioned being banned, I don't think you are. If you were there wouldn't be thte PR 2

It appears your only problem is with indexing. Google doesn't always deep index but you should have your first page indexed by now.

You might want to try the Google webmaster tools. After you are set up and it is looking at your site a few days, it will mention any problems Google see with your site. You will find that at https://google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview.

There are also some spider simulators out there. I would try one of those and see if your text is coming up buchered for some reason.

Being that everything else seems good, I think the problem is in Googles ability to read the page, therefore they don't index it.

I'm wondering about part of your robots.txt file.

    Disallow: /cs/forums/
    Disallow: /cs/search/
    Allow: /cs/forums/default.aspx

I don't know the structure of your site. If your default page (for your domain) is within forum, this may be your problem. I would open up forum and not just the one page.

If your default page for your domain is in the root (not the forum one I see) then you should be fine.

These are all good questions that have been raised. The funny thing, Adacprogramming, is that I have been using the Webmaster Tools for some time now. It doesn't mention any problems with my site other what is excluded because of the robots.txt file. And as for that file, I did disallow the /cs/ folders because this is new forum software for me, and it's generating TONS of errors when Google tries to spider it. My default page IS NOT listed under this folder, or any other of my main pages for that matter. They are all like www.geekgods.net/gaming.htm, no subfolder involved.

So, with all of this, you can see why I am confused. It seems I have everything in order from the Webmaster tools, sitemaps, robots.txt files, errors, etc. but I am still not indexed. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the domain was banned before I purchased it. So, I might drop Google a note to see if that's the case.

If anyone can think of anything else I might be missing, please let me know! And thanks for the help so far!

I'd give it a couple days and check back again.

PR still seems to be changing between datacenters on a few of my sites, and I've got one site that's indexed that is bouncing back and forth between showing NO PR and the normal PR on various datacenters (that is, going from nil to PR3 back and forth on the same datacenters) Hope I'm not on the way to that site being banned for some reason!

But something does seem to be going on. Your situation really is weird though.. I've got the same (similar?) problem happening with my blog site. Has a few links, almost every page indexed by Yahoo, but still after almost 2 months now, still not indexed in Google. Which is odd considering that blogs usually do well on Google. And Googlebot hits the site a few times daily. My only conclusion is that the domain is banned. Submit a reinclusion request, I did a few days ago, just stated that I'd recently purchased the domain and figure that a previous owner used the domain for some sort of garbage.

    Good luck :)

I just checked a banned checker at http://www.iwebtool.com/google_banned.

No idea how accurate this is but it seems to be split on the possibility of your being banned. Inclusion request does seem to be the next step. :(

Yes, I saw that earlier as well on that ban checker. It doesn't seem to want to make up its mind whether the domain is banned or not. After my last post, I did throw in the towel and submit a reinclusion request. Now how long that will take, I don't know. Will keep you updated if anything happens in the next few days!

Well, this might be a little premature, but it does seem that the reinclusion letter worked. Even the banned tool listed above doesn't show the split results anymore! It seems I was finally indexed after 4 long months!
