Write articles and submit to article directories.

 

Did you know that Digg.com is "Dofollow", which means you get a link juice for just submitting your post. Haven't seen anyone mention that blog commenting is also a good way to get backlinks effectively.

There is no need to submit 500 different versions of an article to 500 article directories. Just submit the same article will do. There is no duplicate content penalty for article directories. Don't waste time with article spinners.

I'm new here, but trying to get up to speed. I have been doing some directory submissions but haven't got indexed in Google yet, I guess it is because my web is too new. But I've found this thread useful, thanks for all the tips. I wonder if anybody has a compiled list of directory submissions that won't hurt the ranking.

Check out your sites back links at http://www.backlinkwatch.com/ which gives you all info on PR, OBL, Flag etc and you can watch where you are! It is also useful tool.
