I would use google and enter something like "how to optimize a site for search engines" then you will get some basic guides to start out. Then come here and start reading threads everyday.

did you thing you could learn seo in one blog thread? There is alot more to it than that but you can start by typing in your keyword into google and analyzing (backlinks, pr, cache date, domain renewal, and traffic for starters) what they did to get there and do more of the same. (you may want to implement some software to help get these tasks done) ...First you can do for free is start a blog on your site answering questions on subject....in the posts put link with your keyword phrases to the specific pages on you site. And then check out all the sources above.
