Don't trust a Web site. Get a book. Seriously (I made that mistake once - never again). You probably have access to a local pubic library, so I'd go there and see what they have available. In particular, I'd ask them if they have "Build Your Own Web Site The Right way Using HTML & CSS" by Ian Lloyd, and if they don't, then request an inter-library loan to get it.

If you want to buy the book, you can do so by going to www.sitepoint.com/books/html1 (you can also download a free preview of the book as well).

I agree with Dan. A book is the best way to go because it takes you throught he entire process.

I would say to resort to websites for occasional help on specific problems and questions... But for a proper and rounded intro I would go with a book :)

    Good luck!

    I agree.
Get a book or a Video course. I started with the Lynda.com video tutorial(I know it sounds silly :p) and then went through the Wrox book(just skimmed through the megabook ;) ) and HTML Utopia(sitepoint). And although I'm no where near an expert, I can still do pretty well and since 90% of my work involves just tweaking, it works out very well :D
