    Hello guys,

Been writing some sales letters past few weeks...do you guys have any recommendations on the best book on copywriting?

So far the only book I read was John Caples Tested Advertising Methods.

I heard that David Ogilvy is good...anyone read his books before?

    Thanks!

I've been reading The Well Fed Writer and its sequel, Back for Seconds. Those books are goldmines of information!

Do not get the REVISED edition by Fred E. Hahn, the crap he adds is bad advice and doesn't make sense. As I read I could image how great a book it was without his garbage.

A really good one is The Copywriter's Handbook by Robert W. Bly. This is a classic and should be the first copywriting for any copywriter.

Here is a short list of great books to read:
Scientific Advertising - Claude C. Hopkins
How To Write A Good Advertisement - Victor Schwab
    Cash Copy - Jeffrey Lant
The Adweek Copywriting Handbook - Joseph Sugarman

There are other good ones of course. Check out the
    free Gary Halbert at thegaryhalbertletter.com

I have the 5th edition of Caples... and it's a dull read.
Another poster said the earlier editions were better
and I think he may be right. Even then - the 5th
still has a lot of good information in it.

The Well-fed Writer won't teach you HOW to write but it's
an excellent guide to running your own business - so good
in fact I am tempted to recommend it to anybody who wants
to work from home or do network marketing.

Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz is also a must-have. Boardroom sells it for $95 the last I checked and it's pretty pricey for a 200 page or so book. But considering it used to be out-of-print several years ago and people would steal it from libraries and sell it on eBay for over $1000...95 bucks is a steal. :)
