There's a free one but it's not very similar to MySpace, to be honest. Cheap ones are going to be "efriends" or whatever it's called... usually a cheap script with alot of bugs and no support.

BuddyZone and PHPFox are more expensive but much better... PHPFox blows BuddyZone away though.

You might want to wait for phpRaven to come out, it's suppose to be the mother of all myspace website scripts.

It's suppose to be out in November/December timeframe.

1.09 has a few bugs but nothing that will stop you from running a successful site. They're constantly releasing fixes...

..as for support - no, the support is fantastic in my opinion. Much faster than say vBulletin or a few others, in my experience. The forums are full of people that offer help for free or for a charge but either way you won't find yourself stuck. As a matter of fact... the support team WAS by far the BEST I've ever dealt with and people on the forums were constantly amazed as how fast they worked but, things change and as the script grows the problems are harder to help people with so support isn't as fast...this is why some people feel like it's not as good... but it's DEFINATELY still good! Alot of people just complain because they expect the support team to fix server problems and what not everytime they request it, which is not part of their support efforts (although they're known to do so).

They should be releasing a stable version of 1.1 this week... I know the beta was full of bugs, if that's what you were referring to? But, that's how beta goes...

I own two PHPFox sites and both cause me no problems that are even remotely serious. As a matter of fact - you'll see me offering plenty of help on the forums in the past and now :)

But as for "other scripts"... to be honest, they all claim to be the "best" and yet to can read all of the help threads on Sitepoint because they have no support and are full of bugs. With PHPFox - you'll just see people looking for hacks/mods.

I've never heard of phpRaven but I assume it will be much like the others that claim to be the biggest and baddest yet fail miserably because I've been researching EVERY SNS out on the market and have yet to see one with a support team and dev team like PHPFox's that will back it up and even help you personally if you have a problem that they may not support (Server problems, DB problems, etc) which is what sold me on the script the second time.

From the looks of your name, I suppose you run PHPRaven? If so, I'm interested in seeing your script... I don't mean to be rude - but talk is cheap and I've seen alot of scripts say they're bigger than they are or better than they are... and I'm always creating new Communities so I wouldn't mind putting the script to the test. :)

Ive sort of made a script some-what like myspace's, it is all geared towards my site, but I have been considering making it into some type of open-source myspace-like script.
