    Good luck finding a program. your best bet is to use aweber and import the list.. it will then notify the list and get them to re accept you and if they really are opt in you will get most to sign up agian. if its spam you plan on doing good luck....

    I suppose you could just use an email client and Bcc every single one. It won't look great, but it will get the mail out. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't have an auto-responder if you have a 125,000 member list. You're losing a lot of money as it is by not having one.

    Shell out the cash. It's $20 a month and well worth it, especially with a list that size.

    hehe..and you want to use a free SMTP that will allow you to spam? better be CAN SPAM compliant if you are in USA! Spam is BAD.

    I want to use a free SMTP that will me send out the emails for my phpBB forum to the members. That is not spam. These emails include not only the forum newsletters, but also the activation emails, topic reply notifications, and other essential emails to the forum.

    don't understand the prob with SMTP server software. there are tons of them even IIS has a builtin...
    For activation emails, topic reply notifications ... you don't need a dedicated smtp nor software. All hosting providers have an smtp server which you can use.

    My host has a 100 email per hour limit. I doubt I could run an SMTP server on my home computer because my ISP would not let me send out newsletter emails. I just want a free SMTP server that I can use to use with my phpbb forum.

    did you ask your hosting provider to increase the limit for you?
    it is kinda strange that you can't use your hosting for the 100% legal thing like you described.

    ps. I was sending 1000 email with no hour limits. I guess it's time to change your hosting ;)

    It's a shared host. I guess that's why they have the limit. They do not want me to use more than my fair share of the computer resources. My host is hostican. Other than limits like that, I think they are great. I have great uptime and the hosting is fast, even for PHP/SQL. I think they would let me send out as many emails as I wanted (as long as it is legal and not spam) if I upgraded to a dedicated server, but I am looking for a free way to send these emails out.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    if you can code php:
    just make a php file with all the addresses and email similar to this:
    while(emails) {
    send(email)
    sleep(1)
    }
    its not terribly complicated, then you can just do the math to figure out how much to wait inbetween emails so you don't reach the limit

    that or get another host...

    100 mails per hour is a "fair share of the computer resources" don't make me laugh.

    p.s. I think that many hosting providers will be happy to host you with no stupid limits. Just ask them on one of the hosting forums.

    aha read the thread before you post.
    The authors problem is that he can send only 100 messages per hour with his hosting provider and looks for a free smtp server.

    w3bmaster explain us how Scott can use your script on his php hosting?
