    The first paragraph is correct but unfortunately the second is not. DP is not the best place to learn seo. There is a lot of misinformation passed about. I know i'll get killed for this but Seochat has the best seo forums as far as professional advice is concerned.

    As far as free e-books go there are none that I know of. There are awesome blogs like Seobook.com and seomoz.org but the only good e-books I know of cost money like Aarons.

    I agree.
    In fact, there are misleading information everywhere. Forums can only supplement SE blogs / guidelines.

    There is good info on forums
    There is bad info on forums

    There are good SEO books
    There are bad SEO books

    In the end finding reputable reading is a start. That helps U to understand what is good and bad somewhat better on forums.
    There are even some SEO Blogs worth following.. another good resource

    In the end nothing takes the place of putting the theories into action and observing, annotating the results
