I suspect their system for not being very good or not being able to track all sales, I used to have very bad conversion with them and I stopped using.
I agree. As a merchant, i have been very impressed with SAS though they don't attract as many quality affiliates as the larger, more expensive networks.
As a Merchant we use it also, and I've been very happy with the service after joining about 6-months ago. However, I share DigitalDivide's opinion that the quality of affiliates hasn't really been great so far. Ian
Depends on the merchant. Some sites are very well laid out and make it easy for customers to make a purchase, thus making the conversion rate better. If the merchant's site is difficult to navigate and makes it difficult for the customer to make a purchase, then the conversions are obviously lower. Try out the merchants and pretend you're a customer and see how easy the shopping experience is. If you feel comfortable with it, see what ways they allow you to promote it (banners, text links, etc.) and see if they give you the tools you need to make it easy to drive traffic to it from your site. Don't be afraid to try different merchants until you find one that converts better than another. Ian
I do ok with ShareASale. I like being able to get the datafeeds for free, even though I generally have to do a lot of work to make them worth using. The default category SAS lets merchants use are terrible. One thing I like is that you can check a merchant's uptime, or just select merchants who pay on autodeposit. Otherwise you run the risk of having merchants run out of money, which breaks your links. If a merchant has autodeposit, that helps me to choose to represent them. If not, I check their uptime and make a decision based on that.
I used to advertise there for my former boss back in 2001. Their network of affiliates was rather limited. Maybe they've improved now.
I used them as a publisher and got a few sign ups (.25) each. But never reached the $50.00 payout limit. I have stopped using them.
I stopped using them. I make almost 3000 a month on commission junction (started in february) and have tried different shareasale merchants off and on and never made one red cent off them. As in Zero. Waste of time imho.
I'm not a huge fan of sharasale either. Their reporting sucks, you can only view on a per month basis.
I tried them for a few days, with only a couple sites... based off my experience with the few sites I used w/ SAS, my conversion rate dropped significantly. For instance, one site used to convert 100+/sale a day, then when I switched, it was only converting 10-20/sale a day for the same merchant/landing page. Obviously these numbers are too small to be statistically accurate. I was hoping I would at least maintain the same conversion rate with SAS since I don't like CJ's new Javascript requirement. Maybe I'll give it another try in a couple more weeks again. It could just be a bad week to run experiments since there are seasonal factors, etc.
